Wind farm development
At the end of 2009, SEG Ingeniería S.A. started exploring sites that combined the four fundamental vectors for a successful wind project: wind resources, logistic conditions, connection to a high voltage grid and adequate environmental conditions
Cuchilla de Peralta satisfies these four vectors and comes to be an excellent location for the Wind Farm Peralta GCEE.
In April 2010 an anemometric measuring mast was installed at the site, that allowed the best technical description of the resources in the area and a correlation with measurements already taken in the vicinity.
The basis
Outstanding wind resources, in an area with a convenient logistic access (the wind farm is situated on National Route Number 5), sufficient connection to the grid for injecting all the energy produced by the major private wind farm in Uruguay, and excellent environmental conditions.
The process
Numerous technical studies (soil, topography, interference with cell networks, railway crossings, etc.) to develop a 100 MW wind farm, together with the obtaining of several necessary permits, continued during 2010, 2011 and part of 2012.
The analysis
EAB New Energy GmbH of Germany in collaboration with EPI Energía P&I Ltda. of Brazil, together with SEG Ingeniería S.A. and Eólica de Uruguay, designed and completed the analysis for a wind farm incorporating state-of-the-art technology: the ENERCON E-92 wind turbine. The work of several local and foreign companies, with more than 20 years of experience in the field, will contribute to succeed the Uruguayan energy development by supplying 3% of the energy.
